Genome Prairie Appoints New Manager, Sector Innovation

Genome Prairie is pleased to announce the appointment of Rebecka Carroll as Manager, Sector Innovation.  Ms. Carroll assumes her position starting March 3, 2025.

Ms. Carroll has more than a decade of experience in technology commercialization, project management, and stakeholder engagement across the life sciences, health sciences, and agricultural sectors. Previous to her joining Genome Prairie, Ms. Carroll managed the commercial development of plant germplasm at the University of Guelph, in Guelph, Ontario. With a BSc in Molecular Genetics and an MBA in Technology Commercialization, Rebecka also worked in technology transfer roles at the University of Alberta, where she led research commercialization efforts in the health and natural sciences sectors, negotiated complex agreements, and helped establish university spin-off companies.

“I’m excited to join Genome Prairie and contribute to the impactful work done in genomics innovation. I look forward to working with the team and our partners to support research translation and industry collaboration in the Prairie region,” said Carroll.

Rebecka is passionate about supporting innovations that drive economic development. In her new role, she looks forward to collaborating with stakeholders across Manitoba and Saskatchewan to advance genomics initiatives and create meaningful industry partnerships.

Outside of work, Rebecka enjoys music festivals, painting, and spending time outdoors.

“We are delighted to have Rebecka join our team,” said Dr. Lester Young, Genome Prairie’s Chief Scientific Officer. “Ms. Carroll’s experience will help drive the development of future genomics research opportunities for our region that will eventually improve lives and create significant economic benefits for all.”
