Genome Prairie Welcomes Two New Team Members

Saskatchewan and Manitoba – Genome Prairie is pleased to announce that Oyewole Oyebanji has joined the team as Accountant, effective January 4, 2022.

Oyewole will coordinate day-to-day accounting processes, project financial management and support other financial and accounting duties while contributing to the continuous improvement of the accounting policies, processes and controls, ensuring compliance across the organization. He will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and is located in Saskatoon.

Oyewole comes to us with more than 10 years of accounting experience in both local and international settings. He previously worked at TD Canada Trust and the Ecobank Nigeria Limited. Oyewole holds a master’s degree in Finance, a professional accounting qualification from Nigeria and a Canadian license for investment funds.

In addition, Dr. Jerlene Halliday joined the team on January 5, 2022 as Sector Analyst.

Jerlene’s expertise provides valuable support to the organization’s Chief Scientific Officer, as well as the SeekNET and Genome360 Saskatchewan projects in their analyses of the agriculture sector in both provinces. Her focus will be identifying opportunities for genomics applications in agriculture.

Bringing a wealth of agricultural experience, Jerlene has worked at the Crop Development Centre at the University of Saskatchewan, Novozymes Bio-Ag Limited and DuPont Pioneer. She holds a BSc degree (honours) from the University of Toronto (areas of concentration: developmental and molecular biology) and a PhD from the University of Guelph (areas of concentration: molecular biology; genetics and genomics). She also has an Articling Agrologist designation from the Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists.

Genome Prairie is excited to welcome more strong talent to the organization.
