Mr. Oyebanji will replace Mr. Pat Pitka, who is retiring after serving the organization for 19 years.
April 2, 2025: Saskatoon, SK: Genome Prairie is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Oyewole Oyebanji as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mr. Oyebanji, who has served Genome Prairie since 2022 as Senior Accountant, will begin his new position commencing immediately.
“We are delighted to have Oyewole as our next CFO,” said Mike Cey, Genome Prairie President and CEO. “Mr. Oyebanji brings significant professional accounting experience and the necessary credentials to ensure that our financial and programs services will be overseen with great professionalism and accuracy.”
Mr. Oyebanji, who is originally from Nigeria, holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Ado Ekiti (Nigeria), a master’s degree in Finance from the University of Lagos (Nigeria), an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) designated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, a Designate Compliance Professional (DCP) certified by the Compliance Institute of Nigeria, and a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) by ISACA. Currently, Oyewole is working toward obtaining his Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation in Canada (CPA Saskatchewan).
“I am thrilled to leverage my extensive experience in the financial sector to serve as Genome Prairie’s Chief Financial Officer.,” said Mr. Oyebanji. “I look forward to contributing to the continued success of Genome Prairie.”
The appointment of My Oyebanji coincides with the retirement of Mr. Pat Pitka, who has served as Genome Prairie’s CFO since 2007. Mr. Pitka will continue to serve Genome Prairie as a special advisor.

We’re so happy to have Oyewole as our new CFO, but at the same time, Pat has been a huge part of our organization since nearly the start,” said Cey. “While Pat will still be with us in an advisory capacity, he’s more than earned his retirement, and we all hope for many happy and fulfilling years ahead for him, his wife Karen, and his extended family.”
