Genome Prairie Appoints Director of Business Development

WINNIPEG – June 3, 2013 – Genome Prairie announced today the appointment of Mr. Michael Reimer as Director of Business Development. In this role, Mr. Reimer will identify and implement new opportunities to enhance the organization’s partnership objectives between industry and public research institutions.

Mr. Reimer’s background reflects a growing breadth of experience in technical and management positions within Manitoba’s ag-biotech cluster. Michael completed a M.Sc. in Human Nutritional Sciences from the University of Manitoba in 2007 and subsequently joined the Canadian International Grains Institute as a Technical Specialist. In 2012, he joined the Manitoba Pulse Growers’ Association as the Acting Executive Director.

“I am pleased to announce Michael’s appointment to this important business development role,” said Dr. Reno Pontarollo, Genome Prairie’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “His understanding of key regional priorities and his experience within the local bioscience cluster will strengthen our ability to establish new projects and other initiatives.”

Based in Winnipeg, Mr. Reimer will work with stakeholders from across Manitoba and Saskatchewan to build and strengthen Genome Prairie’s collaborative relationships.
