Genome Prairie Appoints Communications Officer

WINNIPEG – November 12, 2014 – Genome Prairie is pleased to announce that Quyen Van has joined their team as Communications Officer to help provide leadership in identifying and pursuing opportunities to strengthen Genome Prairie’s reputation and success. She will be focused on the advancement of the Company’s strategic plan by building and enhancing the organization sustainability and credibility while fostering support for genomics research in the Prairies. “I am excited to work with the great team here at Genome Prairie, our collaborators in the Manitoba and Saskatchewan research community, as well as working with our partners in the Canadian Genomics Enterprise.”

Quyen is a graduate of the University of Manitoba, receiving her MSc in Pharmacology & Therapeutics, where her focus of study was in lipoprotein and cell biology. She also received her MBA from the University of Manitoba, where her focus was in general management and marketing. She joins us with experience in both agricultural and nutritional research, having spent 4 years at the Richardson Centre for Functional Foods & Nutraceuticals studying plant bioactives, functional foods, and metabolic disease. After completion of her MBA, she joined Think Shift as their business development consultant in corporate branding, research, and business planning. Previous to joining Genome Prairie, she served as Director of Marketing at McMunn & Yates Building Supplies Ltd.

Genome Prairie, a non-profit-organization, aligns partners and resources to develop and manage research projects addressing key regional priorities such as agriculture, human health, the environment, and many more. Communications and outreach activities also help strengthen the Prairie research community while building awareness of the significant impacts generated through investments in genomics.
