Funding Opportunities

Enabling advanced bioscience research on the Prairies.

Genome Prairie works with regional, national and international partners to promote the participation of local researchers in new bioscience-based research initiatives. Specific initiatives and project funding comes from a range of sources including government and industry, as well as Genome Canada.

Current Opportunities

Genomic Monitoring of Pathogens in Water (GeMPaW) strategic initiative

Funding Opportunity:

The Genomic Monitoring of Pathogens in Water (GeMPaW) initiative will help Canada defend its population, wildlife and environment from major threats posed by emerging pathogens (EPs) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), including antibiotic resistant bacteria and genes. Through cutting-edge genomic monitoring in water and pan-Canadian collaboration, this strategic initiative will prepare Canada for future pandemics and other emerging health challenges with a One Health approach.

Genomics Applications Partnership Program (GAPP)

The Genomic Applications Partnership Program will fund downstream research and development (R&D) projects that address real world challenges and opportunities as identified by users of genomics research (i.e. industry, government, not-for-profits and other organizations). Downstream R&D includes proof of concept, validation or development of a product, tool or process having significant commercial market potential, or other measurable impact.
