WHAT IS
THE ENGAGING GENOMICS IN MANITOBA SYMPOSIUM?
The Engaging Genomics in Manitoba Symposium is designed to be an information and networking event at the University of Manitoba, bringing together researchers, industry leaders, agencies and policymakers from Manitoba’s diverse bioscience sector, while formally acknowledging excellence in developing the rapidly accelerating genomics sector in Western Canada.
WHO WILL BE AT THIS EVENT?
Engaging Genomics in Manitoba will feature a wide variety of attendees, including leading genomics researchers in the province, industry representatives, policymakers, and special guests who have played a key role in building the genomic industry in the province.
WHAT WILL BE HAPPENING AT THE EVENT?
In addition to offering attendees the opportunity to meet in a relaxed atmosphere, the event will feature a presentation by Dr. Rob Annan, President and CEO of Genome Canada, who will talk about future opportunities for research growth in Canada.
The event will contain two presentation sessions featuring presentations from Genome Prairie-funded researchers, and a special panel event that will examine future funding opportunities available to the Manitoba biotech community.
Other activities are planned, including breakout panels to offer attendees opportunities to meet one-on-one with presenters, and an awards ceremony recognizing individuals for their biotech contributions to the province of Manitoba.
A complimentary lunch will be provided to all, and coffee/ juice stations will be fully tanked the entire day.
WAIT, YOU MENTIONED AWARDS?
Yes! Two awards will be presented at the event – one for lifetime achievement in genomics, and one for research excellence in Manitoba.
IS THERE A COST TO ATTEND?
No! Attendance is free – this event celebrates an important part of Manitoba’s bioeconomy, and we want to make it available to all. BUT, there’s a catch – attendance is limited! You must register in order to attend!
